The tale of all tales...My tale

Today was my day to tell a story to the other travelers, as this was what all of us have been doing to keep busy during the long days of the journey. I told a tale that I learned from a close friend of mine who is also a clerk.

The tale was about a noble man who has to marry right away. He is told to keep the bloodline by marrying a noble woman, but the noble man refuses, as he believes nobility does not matter and he should be allowed to marry as he pleases. The man plans his wedding and goes to the poorest man in the city to ask for his daughter's hand in marriage because she was beautiful in virtue. She accepts the proposal and tells him she will never disobey him.

Nonetheless, he feels the need to test his new wife. He takes away her children and asks for a divorce, all to test her obedience. The man proceeds to bring back his children, and is "going to wed his daughter", but no one knows it is his daughter. Everyone thinks she is beautiful and it is a good idea for the lord. Through all the trials, the woman stayed true and did only as the king pleased. If I do say so myself, it is one of the better tales as we all love a trying love story.

Yes, that was the story in a nutshell. Speaking of nutshell, I'm rather hungry...we should be stopping soon to eat.
